Dear Internet Archive Supporter: Time is Running Out! I ask only once a year: please help the Internet Archive today. We’re an independent, non-profit website that the entire world depends on.Our work is powered by donations averaging about $41.

If everyone chips in $5, we can keep this going for free. For the cost of a used paperback, we can share a book online forever. When I started this, people called me crazy. Collect web pages? Who’d want to read a book on a screen? For 21 years, we’ve backed up the Web, so if government data or entire newspapers disappear, we can say: We Got This. The key is to keep improving—and to keep it free. We have only 150 staff but run one of the world’s top websites.

We’re dedicated to reader privacy. We never accept ads. But we still need to pay for servers and staff. The Internet Archive is a bargain, but we need your help. If you find our site useful, please chip in.—Brewster Kahle, Founder, Internet Archive. Donor challenge: A generous supporter will match your donation 3-to-1 right now.

I made the drive down from Seattle to LA with a couple of my bandmates to attend what was one of the great rock festivals ever. Not the largest ever, but over 250,000 people attended.

I'll include my ticket stub in the files. This was an all day show starting with Bob Welch (with guests Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwod), Dave Mason, Carlos Santana, Heart, Ted Nugent, Foreigner, Aerosmith (headliners), Mahagony Rush, and Rubicon in that order. I have soundboard audio of all of them.Long story short - we managed to make our way into the VIP section and watched most of the day while seated, drinking free beer, right in front of the stage. Meanwhile, all around us, people were packed like sardines along the fences.

The first band we were able to see from this spot was Heart. We were too afraid to get up and get more beer - or even go to the bathroom, because we didn't belong there, and we thought someone might see that we didn't have backstage passes, and throw us out. There was security everywhere - at the entrance to the seats, and at every entrance to the tent where the bar was. So we stayed put.Cal Jam 2 was filmed for ABC television and I do have that video also. Quality of the video is not perfect, but me and my friends can actually be seen in the seating area during Heart's performance.

A memory that will last forever.Heart - being a Seattle band - we knew them well, and lusted after Ann and Nancy just like everyone else. Here they are - in their prime, with the original lineup. There are previews here of songs from the 'Magazine' album, which would be released the following month, and from 'Dog & Butterfly' which would follow several months later.

Interview 0:00:43.37I almost didn't make this show, won tix on a local college (WUSB Stony Brook) radio station that afternoon as a matter of fact. We were seeing them all over the place from April of that year right through to the upcoming fall. So this being a WNEW radio broadcast I thought we'd pass as it woulda' most definitely be a massive mobfest, it was, but anyway.THAT woulda' been one of the largest mistakes o'my life! This was the best Church show.only eclipsed by my first Church show and maybe NYC 04.

I ever attended! This is the pre FM feed of this boys and girls. I as well have the actual on air broadcast w/all the on air bastard radio jock complete idiocy and utter nonsense and a couple ads thrown in for good measure, NO comparison to this, kids.at one point one of the dual jackasses on mic that night referred to Mart as 'Marty Willson the piper'.I rest my case. Anyway.Peter's rig and Stratocasters somehow petered out during the encores, he got so frustrated he just grabbed one of Mart's Rics and commenced on w/the standard feedback/sonic noise maelstrom these lot ended every show with back in the day. These guys were ratcheted up to nice comfortable 11 PLUS this night.Ploog, man.there's just not enough I can say about Dick Ploog.the guy was just MASTERFUL in keeping the entire show just soldiering forth, as he always did, the guy was just a fluid MACHINE of a drummer.and then there's sheer wizardry o'those guitars and Kilbey's always velvet larynxicals.even in the midst of a MILKY WAY candy bar bombardment.damned good aim too, bleeding thing his Kilbo's microphone, listen and you'll see when. DEAR LORD, what a template and UTTERLY perfect Church show this was.even that melt-down/near disaster in the encores, that just added to the tense brilliance yr always in store for concerning these guys. That alone woulda derailed most other bands.not these lot!

I hope you dig this. It's about the best Church recording around!Archaic and way overdue thanks to Noisemasters ninkaasi and nowandzen.my Choichy comrades in arms for about a decade now. I absolutely love you two guys! Phantom of the Opera04. Iron Maiden05. Innocent Exile07. Another LifeNotes:This is the famous appearance of Iron Maiden on Beat Club, a German weeklty TV show in the '70's/early '80's that also featured bands like Saxxon, Dokken, April Wine and.ABBA. The band plays live for a 1/2 hour in front of a studio audience and seems a bit nervous. They make quite a few mistakes throughout the set. Nonetheless, it's a great, energetic show from Maiden in what I consider their best period.
